Cancer is a grave threat to all dogs. It is the number one cause of death among dogs over age two and one in four dogs will die of cancer. Some of the most popular breeds are especially at risk. For example, 60% of Golden Retrievers die of the disease. MAF raised more than $3.5 million in donations for research to find a cure for canine cancer and innovative treatments for dogs suffering today. While helping dogs, this research may also produce breakthroughs in the prevention, treatment and cure of human cancers-- in particular childhood cancers.
